Art of Perspective – Lemurs Simultaneous Experience |
In the early morning light, Lemurs naturally extend their arms to warm up. This behavior reminds me of an old friend telling a fishing story to his friend, who patiently listens to the same story again. I've often pictured myself as either of these Lemurs, communing with a close friend or family member. The second lemur represents the loss of that friend (in real life, it is playing with it's tail).

I find it intriguing that we can experience two emotional extremes at the same time. When we lose a close family member or friend, we can experience happiness and sorrow simultaneously. For example, at a funeral, we are sad that we lose our friend, but we are happy to see people from the past and comforted to memorialize our loved one. We have at our command, the ability to keep our memories alive (happy, sad, or both) at any time we choose despite the loss. May 2014
